U-571-- Up WHICH Periscope?

My husband had the infamous flick on last night as I was running in and out of the living room making dinner, so I probably missed something vital. But it did appear that the U boat commander was conducting a daytime attack using the sky periscope...

So maybe this confirms that the thingie upstairs with the bike seat was an excercise machine for the commander?

And yes, Meg, I know that Lehmann-Willenbrock used it for that purpose, at least according to Buchheim! :-)
