I just found this out a few days back and have extended my search.
Movietone film clips and another can be viewed.
go to
[www.britishpathe.com]
and enter U-boat and a nice listing of U-boat subjects will appear. Copy the titles to a word processor for later reference. I have not been able to view the clips using this site, but the search engine is more selective.
Any subject of interest can be entered.

then go to
[www.itnsource.com]
and select SEARCH
On the SEARCH page enter the titles into the search function labeled "Enter the exact phrase"
A number of dates can be selected. I selected "fine tune" and entered the dates of interest.
Then the film clip can be viewed.

I have also been using [www.movietone.com]
If you are not using a 56K modem select BROADBAND when the film clip appears for a higher resolution video.

There is footage from the 20s to the 70s.

On Movietone I found a clip of the Niobe and also a very clear clip of Horst Elfe U-93 as a POW.

Perhaps others can fine-tune the process or know of other filmreel listings other then YouTube.
