Hallo Herr Kummrow,
thanks for the information. I wrote about the film in my blog Movie-gesindel.blogspot.com and also ZEIT online publicated my article on Kultur/Film und TV/ Laconia. The photo of U 156 rescueing the laconiasurvivors is from my uncle who was Wachoffizier during the action.
It is a very interesting isssue, because my uncle on U 156 left hundreds of letters, Logbucheinträge, Thousand fotos. So it was possible for an historian, my brother to publicate
in a book of 795 pages all, he annoted and commented the documents, the days of the incident as well . Title "Vom Fähnlein zur Fahne in den Tod."
In the film at the end, there were original fotos to be seen, from my uncle.
