New Das Boot mini series

Having now watched all 8 episodes on Sky Atlantic, I think the first movie with Jurgen Prochnow remains the better adaptation from Buchheim's classic. Although the shots of the inside of the U-boat were very convincing, added the extra story line plot of the sister / brother, I thought the additional story line of a U-boat commander abandoned mid ocean by another C/O with a death wish, along the disturbing Russian ship episode were too far fetched. That said the series was entertaining giving an insight to the life and death struggle of WW2, but alas the series being frustratingly cut short, leaving unanswered of how the abandoned C/O [Hoffmann] miraculously survived and reached America, with now explanation or of the future consequences of those who abandoned him.John
