Just out of curiosity, how many would consider donating to a legitimate non-profit organization dedicated to the construction of a full-scale replica U-boat???

The cost is actually much lower than you would think. Several years ago, I began conducting feasibility studies on the cost to build a full-scale replica of a Typ XXIII u-boat, via a non-profit organization dedicated to the project based on historical interest. The XXIII was chosen for several reasons. First it is smaller (by 1800 feet) than a Typ VII, it requires only one engine and doesn

I think a running, floating, living u-boat as a museum experience would be amaxing. Imagine a u-boat chugging into port with a uniformed crew lining its deck....

In general, its so interesting when you consider the MAN 40/46 6 Cylinder Diesel displaced 57.8 liters per cylinder, for a total of over 20,000 CID...Or the design specification of the conning tower outer cover was 36mm thick...and each boat carried (1) MG42 and a compliment of 7.65 Master pistols...not to mention a full array of electric heaters, a refrigeration system for food storage and a ver

I have been thinking about this for years. An actual full scale, fully functional Type XXIII. When I was a kid, I was so sad to see an old movie of the British sinking U Boats. In particular was U-2324. I remember watching her rolling in the waves as the British fired round after round and I recall thinking what a waste of such a historic boat. I built all the U-Boat models, but Type XXIII

Found a video showing a relocated U Boat taken in 1958.The video incorrectly identifies the boat as U834 which was never completed. It also shows a man identified as "Captain Herbach, The U Boats skipper" helping sift through thr interior of the refloated U Boat. Aside from the incorrect boat number, I cannot see the "real" captain assisting in the plunder of a war grave.

Greetings one and all and Happy New Year!!!! I am curious to know if any of the undamaged U-Boats (that sank from foundering) have ever been dived??? My interest is primarily in U-637, U-539, U-778, U-994 and U-1005.It is my beliefe that one of these undamaged boats could be a great investment opportunity to raise and display a U-Boat fully intact. Also, I have read conflicting accounts tha
