There's been discussion about that box cover in many threads in several forums with a concensus that it was fiction. However, a week ago I stubled on this thread..... I'm building U-505 myself in 1/72. At time of capture she was very heavily weathered, but color photo's clearly show the conning tower to be blauschwarz 58.2 and the upper hull blaugrau 58.1. The same scheme as U-805, also shown in allied color photos. I'm amazed the U-505 muesum painted her the wrong colors after all the expense of restiration and the building! Regards,

I'm building a 1/72 U-505 and am trying to find schematics with rivet detail. They aren't present in the Planrolle drawings. Anyone know where I can find this, or do I need to take a tape measure to the Museum of Science and Industry, and a very long ladder? Thanks! Scott
