While working on my next version of the decking and piping plan,I have noted a few errors in my Working Drawing version 5. They are listed below. * The Access hatch to Main ballast and reserve fuel oil Tank 2 hatch and opening - Should be 500 mm aft from its current position * The Exhaust Gas Blowing valve access hatch - Should be 500 mm aft from its current position. Similarly, the valve bel

After nearly 3 years (2 years, 10 months, 1 week and 3 days) I was able to update my dorsal view of my Type VIIC/41. The file size has continued to grow, plus the redraw time is getting slower and slower. As a result of is, I have removed the bridge and Wintergarten from this version to assist with this problem. I have lost the change log for this version, nevertheless, I would say there are

I don’t believe the C/30 was ever in the twin mounting. The first twin mount was the MG 151 ordered by the OKM in 1942. This gun was unsatisfactory and later removed. I believe the C/38 replace the MG 151 and I believe the C/38 was only found in the twin mounted M 43U.

I had a bit of free time with my studies, so I modelled the FuMB-26 'Tunis' radar warning. The FuMB-26 combined 3 different radar warning systems, the ‘Naxos’, ‘Fliege’ & the ‘Mücke’. This system was used on U-boats from May/June 1944. I have uploaded my 3D model of the FuMB-26 'Tunis' radar warning to my SketchUp '3D Warehouse' page. Anyone is welcome to down

I use CorelDRAW X7. There will not be a major update this year for the PDF as I am busy working on a Master’s Degree. I may realise a small minor update if I can found the time within the next few months.

I believe you can not purchase a full set of shipyard drawing, a full set would be about 10,000 drawings. There are only a very few original Germany drawings around. Your best option is to buy a set of “Planmappe: Uboottyp VII C”. These are copes of about 10 original Germany drawings but there are a number of mistake on them. Below is a link to my drawing that may help. The 2014 version will

1. I believe the are all repainted and not alway corrent. I have been working on the pipe colour coding for about three years, it very hard to work out. Here are some of the colour coding for the engine room 2 Below is a small list of the known changes on U-995. You could also check out the Bridge & Wintergarten Upper Wintergarten Platform. I have been looking at the angle of the Balcongerät and I noted that the Germans reduce this angle each time with a newer type of U-boat. They started with 75º with the Type VIIC and ended with 60º with the Type XXIII. Did the Germans reduce this angle each time to reduce the noise interference by increasing the hydrodynamics shape of the Balcongerät or do you think there another reason for th

Have you ever wonder that the piping looks like in the engine room on a Type VIIC/41, here your chance. These drawings are base on the Design and Specification Books, Volume M that was found aboard U-570, shipyard drawings and U-995. During the research we found evidence of three reviews of the engine room. The first was around mid 1941, the second is around mid 1943 and the last sometime late 19

This summer I was able to add a large number of new things and make updates (listed below) to my U-1308 drawing. There are now over 61,000 objects in this dorsal view and this is reveal in the size of the PFD file which has grown to over 22MB Significant changes between this version and the previous are: the wooden deck, bridge/Wintergarten and the piping around the engine room. A reminder

UPDATE: Maciek recently found a photo taken at the same time and it read “U-995, U-313, U-315”. Is can not be 100% correct as U-313 surrendered at Narvik. I think it’s a typo and should read U-310. With this new information it suggests the boats are (Port to Starboard) U-995, U-310 & U-315.

I am not sure about the Type IX but on the Type VIIC the pressure hull is between 16 mm and 18.5 mm. Its 16 mm at both the bow and stern casting and 18.5 mm around the CT. Unsure if all the steel on the Type VIIC/41 is the same 21 mm.

I have not study the Type XXIII Schnorchel yet however, the anti-radar materials used on the Schnorchel head and neck by the German Kriegsmarine during World War II would be call Tarnmatte. Wesch-type anti-radar coating ‘Tarnmatte’ was designed to be effective against the H2S radar. It was made from 2 cm thick sheets of a synthetic rubber called Buna that contained iron oxid powder. It was ver

Wonderful photo's! Hope to get there myself one day. I like photo "MunsterLaboe1415-11-2012393" the inside of the gyro compass. Do you have any more or a clearer photo of this? Would be keen to be able to read the label on the compass to see if it an original German compass. The piping does not look original :-(

Thanks John. This is fantastic! The reason I am asking about the numbers is the two U-boat on the left have been modified for the underwater refuelling. We only know of 8 U-boat with this alteration. I believe strongly the two U-boat on the left are U-773 and U-1064, the reason follows: U-310, U-315, U-481 & U-483 are all build from boatyards not known to modified U-boat for the unde

Without seeing pictures of what you are talking I can not be 100% sure. 1. Sound like the bow eye for tow line to the forward towing hook. 2. Sound like the tube they kept the spare 37 mm gun barrel in.
