Heimburg was catched by the russians in march 1945. Following the indications of a german prisoner who came back from Russia, Heimburg was put in a camp close to Stalingrad and died there in October 1945 without remembering the exact date. So October 1945 has been considered as the official date of death

no, there is no transposition error. He was taken by the russians and was missed since June 21, 1945. Later the russian Red Cross announced that he died in Russia on December 6, 1945.

it's for sure that there was no ship Köln nor any other german merchant ship in the vicinity. All german merchant ships still at sea at this moment had either to join Spain when they came from the south or to cross the Danemark Street when the came from the north.So means that there was one south west of Ireland. Hi tried to pass Gibraltar on december 17th, 1941. At the line cape Trafalgar/ cape Spatial he touched softly the ground and got a leakage at the packing of the port bottom valve of the cooling water.He could not repair by his own means and decided to return because the leakage was so important that no deep diving was no more possible.There is no indication of any attack by Liberator in the KTB
