Heimburg was catched by the russians in march 1945. Following the indications of a german prisoner who came back from Russia, Heimburg was put in a camp close to Stalingrad and died there in October 1945 without remembering the exact date. So October 1945 has been considered as the official date of death

Hi tried to pass Gibraltar on december 17th, 1941. At the line cape Trafalgar/ cape Spatial he touched softly the ground and got a leakage at the packing of the port bottom valve of the cooling water.He could not repair by his own means and decided to return because the leakage was so important that no deep diving was no more possible.There is no indication of any attack by Liberator in the KTB
