I got a new U-boat book this morning 'Wolfpack - U-Boat at War 1939-1945' by P. Kaplan & J. Currie. Inside I found this picture It is great to found a pictures of the rivets, you can see them clearly along the side of this U-Boat

Now if I think about it a little more, you would not use only three rivets. You would use either 2 or 4 rivets (like below)

Hi Scott I noted the you said this information was for IXC, IXC40, IXD2, XB, and XXI. U-995 is a Type VIIC/41. Would this be a reason why the three rivets? Simon

Hi Ben I believe all Type VIIC/41 had there 88mm gun remove. The bow was 130 mm longer and a little higher about 100 mm. I am working on drawing of a Type VIIC/41 for the last two years now. You can see some of my drawing at If you have any more question sent me PM Simon

Does anyone know of any cases that they replace the the Diesel motor from a Type VII's? If they did, it much had been a huge job, removing the decking, cutting the pressure etc...

I remember reading somewhere that the piping within the U-boats (or maybe it was only U-995) was colour coded, but I can not remember if it was the German that did it or the Royal Norwegian Navy. Does anyone know? Thanks, Simon

Hi All I have been keen U-boat person for many years now I live in New Zealand, a long way from the home of the U-Boats. I workout a few weeks back that I live over 18,500 km from U-955 Over the years I have noted a few other kiwi’s that are also intense in U-boats. I was just wondering how many of as are out there. If you a like U-Boat and are a kiwi or living in New Zealand, say hello
