31. Re: U117
Hi Mike,
!. I haven't trusted the USN since the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in 1964!
2. My Source is the Commerce Department not the US NAVY.
3. Again 3 vessels named ON TIME are listed thru June 1918. In list June 1919
only two (2) appear and would be in port.
4. /catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/007919581
5. Both of us know newspapers are a poor source.

32. Re: U117
Upon further research:
There were (3) fishing vessels listed in the New England area for June 30 1917 thru June 30 1918. One is missing from the list June 30 1918 thru June 30 1919.
ON210974 ON TIME 8 tons gross built 1912,Osterville, Mass with home port as
Vineyard Haven, MASS.
A KTB can contain errors. Not keeping track of boats that are being sunk is not
unusual. See U57 Scarb

36. U54 15.10.16
On the above date, U54 was battered by high waves and three
men were washed overboard and drowned. Bei der Drehung werden durch eine überkommende starke Welle der 1. Wachoffizier Oberleutnant z. S. Jobst Lehmann, der Bootsmannsmaat Adolf Wächter und der Matrose Willy Buttkus über Bord gespült und ertrinken.
The above site lists Lehmann and Buttkus but does not list Adolf Wachter.

Hi Chris,
Three SCHWERDTFEGERs served in the German Navy during WW1.
Hans: Korvettenkapitan
Herman: Kapitanleutnant
Paul: Kapitanleutnant
None of the 3 commanded a uboat but may have served on a boat in another
copacity eg. inspector, pilot, etc..

Kurt Hartwig's name does not appear on the list of war criminals published

and many more. Again, Hartwig is not listed.

Thank-you Oliver,
I looked for UB84 in the main listing, search by boat number. UB84 does not appear.
However, their names are listed in killed by accident. I looked in the wrong list.
Thanks again,

Hello Guys and Gals,
Does anyone know why the names of the dead sailors from
UB84 killed in the collision with SOLINGEN are not on the

Hey Guys,
The silence is deafening. Who has a legitimate objection?
Perhaps the Commanders List should become the

I believe all but two of the names on the list commanded other
boats and are listed on the Commanders List on Uboat net. Did Bruno
Krumhaar and Erich Metzenthin command U3 and if so When?

Thanks Oliver,
You don't have to carry out a war patrol to make the commander listing.
Some on the list never carried out a patrol but were named commander while
being refurbished. How ever he did at least one war patrol on U52.
I'm surprised that you haven't tried to contact his grandson. Easier for you
to do than me here in the USA, He would know if his grand fath

Welcome to the forum Claus,
Yes, 1906 is incorrect. It is a common mistake usually referred to as a typo,
such as pushing the number zero key when meaning to push the number one key.
But of course, you knew that, because von Arnauld's first patrol in the Med.
didn't take place till 1916!
Again welcome,
Respectfully,
