Mr Lowrey,
Thank you for these detailed information. So the U 52 took part in more than four patrolS and also break through the Strait of Gibraltar twice.
If it's possible could you send me the dates of UB 128 patrols ?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Was Josef Röther (later cdr U-380) commander of the Kamerun the Norwegian minesweeper HNoMS Rauma that was captured in April 1940 and re-designated as Vorpostenboot (later to minelayer) ?
I found at www.ubootarchiv.de that he served as ''Kommandant des Vorpostenbootes Rauma in der Hafenschutzflottille Oslo ''
As you see it mentioned as Rauma and not as Kamerun

Hello,
First I want to congratulate you for your great work.
I was looking your Flickr pictures about U-181 and I noticed that Leopold Scheba and Röhling Uwe awarded the U-boat war badge after only one patrol and not after two war patrols as usual.
According to his personal papers Röhling Uwe made 2 patrols with U-181 (16 Mar-8 Aug 1944 & 19 Oct 1944 -5 Jan 1945) and awarded the U-boat

Thanks a lot my friend
Did you know if someone received U-Boots-Kriegsabzeichen after only one patrol?
I think Lt (Ing) Hille Dietrich, LI of U-181, received it after only one patrol (Bordeaux – Penang).

Hi,
In commissioning ceremony photo of U-476 her CO, Oberleutnant zur See Otto Niethmann, wears the U-boat War Badge. Do you know why?
According to he made only one patrol as WO of U-373 in mining operations at US east coast. While serving on U-30 the boat used for training duties with 24. Flottille and did not made any patrol.
Thx in advance

Hi jcrt
In my opinion CO was Kaeding and after his arrival at Kiel with U-56 he stays at shipyard waiting the commission of U-4713.
I guess that's what happens.

Hello Everyone,
In December 1944 Lt Walter Kaeding began his U-boat Commander training at the 19th flotilla, completing his courses in January 1945. On 9 January 1945 he was appointed temporary commander of U-56.
Did you know the reason of his appointment? Was something wrong with Lt Heinrich Miede?
According to Lawrence Paterson (Black Flag: The Surrender of Germany's U-Boat Force

According to for USS Ericsson (DD-440) operations during WWII
... and on 27 August intercepted a trawler, in which the crew of a German submarine, previously grounded and scuttled in the area, were attempting to escape through the American patrol line. Fifty prisoners were thus taken ...
In my opinion that was the crew of U-230
Any idea ?

Hi
I just want to ask if in Kriegsmarine training system someone could start u-boat training immediately after his basic training (in Schiffsstammabteilung)?
It was possible for a man to do his "Bordausbildung" onboard a u-boat and not in a major ship or any other ship?
Thx

50. In which patrol?
Hi
Rudolf Dübler served in Sep-Nov 41 as Wachoffizier-Schüler in U 203 or in U-83 ?
Because you list him in both patrols
U-83 Patrol No2 (28 Sep 1941 - 31 Oct 1941) and U-203 Patrol No3 (20 Sep 1941 - 30 Sep 1941)
