Bob, I'm eager for your opinion on the book. And thank you for the story about Chief Quartermaster Mazzuchi. I was thinking about the Mantle thing yesterday while at the ballgame at Yankee Stadium. I'd known he was a baseball fan, and that he came from upstate New York, so should have figured he loved The Mick (although in those days Mantle was a favorite all around the country).

Robert, I didn't know you'd served with SCPO Mazzucchi. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to his daughter in 2008 at the 40th memorial ceremony in Norfolk. That was a day I'll never forget. Glad you're giving the new book a read. I'm sure you'll let me know what you think. Best, Jerome

Robert, I was referring to the post (and DVD) below. As far as my serving on a boat (which I of course haven't done), not quite sure how that's relevant. Robert, As I told you when you wrote your email to me at the onset of this project--read it and then decide what you think. That would seem to be reasonable, no? I did not set out to fight old battles with you or Mr. Rule in this book. I wrote a meticulously researched history that uses primary source material to dispel the sensationalism with which this subject has been covered to date.

It's been two years since my last post here and the book I'd mentioned I was writing has just been published. It's titled CODE NAME CAESAR: The Secret Hunt for U-boat 864 During World War 2 (Berkley Publishing), and it puts the submarine's mission, and eventual fate, in an accurate historical context. I started out knowing there was a lot of inaccuracy in previous news and doc

Hope anyone with an interest in u-864 will read my book CODE NAME CAESAR: The Secret Hunt for U-864 During World War Two (Berkley Publishing). I don't give a definitive answer about its raising, as the Norwegian government is still debating the issue. I do, however, answer all of what's answerable about the submarine's mission and destruction in the first nonsensational account of
