I understood what you said. However, when I log on to this website, and I scroll down through the alphabetical listing of all Uboat commanders, and the only thing I see on Walter von Freyberg's place is still nothing more than a silhouette--that is the issue. It's still blank. I have absolutely no interest....certainly NO mission in trying to be argumentative, but when I come on

To date there has been no photograph of this Nazi Uboat commander. I finally received some help from Jerry Mason last Autumn, who provided me a photograph of him. I had posted the photograph of him, with help from a suggestion by t-geronimo, but returning, I see this photograph still fails to be listed by the website under the Commanders page. Why is this? I'll post this again here.

Correct! Three masted schooner. I've read that, this sinking was one of the "last straws" which compelled the U.S. to enter the war.

Just taking a moment this morning to throw my wreath in the sea in honor of my grandfather and the members of this Liberty Ship who were lost at sea on this date in history on March 29, 1943. You are gone grandfather, but never forgotten.

Again, credit for this photo goes to Jerry Mason. Please find (I hope) a photograph of Uboat 610 Commanding Officer Walter von Freyburg

Yes, thanks. I tried that, but it only displayed the broken image icon so, I need to find a way to copy this photo other than those you grab off the internet.

11. U-610
Hard to explain the emotions when in my late 60's, I have finally found a major piece in the puzzle behind the sinking of liberty ship William P. Frye (Hull 212). My grandfather, John Poore was the 2nd Ass't Engineer on the Frye and did not survive it's sinking on Mar. 29,1943 by U-610, commanded by Walter von Freyberg. I have been slowly piecing together the story of my grandfa

I happened to see this movie one night purely by accident. It looked interesting, and so I watched it, though it was sub-titled. I enjoyed it immensely, especially the opening part about the German warship Blucher attempting to steal it's way up the Norwegian fjord until it was discovered in the darkness and sunk in the channel. I provide the brief youtube of the opening action here:

I was a member here some time ago and have not been back in what seems like forever. I stopped back in one day during the Christmas holidays to see what may have been added to the website. Particularly, my interest surrounds the S.S. William P. Frye, a Liberty ship that carried my grandfather, 2nd Ass't Engineer John Poore who lost his life along with 56 others in the North Atlantic in Mar
