Nice one...it looks like all subsequent. i.e., U-2502, etc., had a single half vent instead of the 2.
Thanks for the additional photo.

The only U-boat in the general area (of K-14 sinking - Square BA) at the time (02 July) was U 233 in Square BB - she was sunk on 5 July 1944 32 dead and 29 survivors. Her KTB was not recovered and not sure if there exits an interrogation report of the remaining survivors 0f U 233.

Regarding the topic on biographies, etc....
This publisher (Flechsig) has 2 groupings that may be of interest to forum participants (HISTORY and CONTEMPORARY HISTORY-BIOGRAPHY - German text). The links follow (explore all the pages in each grouping):
For Schepke:
I personally have several books from this publisher and they are very well worth the price.

This page might have some info you can use, also noting the references at the bottom of the page.
I am curious as to what references you have previously checked.
There doesn't seem to be much info published regarding this subject.

I was using Jerry's site today, looking thru the dates manually and then thought of the search function that was available on the former "ubootwaffe" site - I sure miss that auto search function...

Marshall,
I have read in the past that items of this nature and personal items, that belonged to the crews, that were used upon their return from patrol (civilian clothes, etc.), were stored in the U-boats home port - in this case it would have been Lorient, for the U-128.

Some videos/links of interest:
At 2:22 minutes into this YouTube video, you will also see U-460 ["Milchkuh"] alongside and starting to provide supplies. The film was shot on 04 October 1943 just prior to U-460's loss.
