Artur, I do not have the "original" KTB, only a condensed version (Herbert Ritschel - Kurzfassung KTB deutscher U-Boote). There are some contributors on this forum that have in their possession copies of the "Original" KTB's. It is possible that the entry for "September 24, 1942" could be further amplified. I hope that you receive a speedy response t

Francesco, Thanks for the additional information regarding this collision. I have added a tranlated version for our non-Italian speaking community: On December 13, 1943, during a mission to return to Italy from Algiers, the small fast light cruiser, "Pompeo Magno" hit in broad daylight, an underwater obstacle, which was considered the hull of a submarine. Larry, The 4 crewmen were rescued by U 30 as you state. From the KTB - The DO-18 was not able to be towed and was sunk by artillery fire on the 29th. Shortly after the 4 men were brought aboard, a fishing trwler showed up. It was not stated in the KTB whether the 4 crewmen were transferred to the trawler.

Nobby, U 901 was affected by the bombing of the base at Libau on 16 September 1944 and her diving capability was nullified due to damages sustained. After repair period, she then left Kiel for Stavenger on 28 March 1945. U 1014 was damaged in the same raid and was then taken to Deutsche Werke in Gotenhafen for repairs on the 17th and then she joined the 26th U-Flotilla on 10 January 1944 at

Nobby, U 1263 never built (must be a typo in the log); "Liepaja" is Libau in Latvia.

Nobby, This message refers to the transport of aviation fuel and 8.8cm antiaircraft guns/ammunition to Trondheim by U 101, U 122, U 123 and UA and three other un-mentioned submarines - this was due to rail lines that were not allowed to be used initially by the Germans in Sweden. Steve, I think what was meant here was - "On 16 November the AFT stern TORPEDO STORAGE tube AND IT'S CONTENTS (torpedo) was torn off by heavy seas." The floating unit was then destroyed by gunfire from U-376 to prevent it (G7a) from falling into enemy hands. Also refer here:
