Thanks Ken.
What do you make of this
The submarine base Liepaja suffered damage during the air raid on 15 Sept. The target ship SALZBURG, TF "2" and submarine U "1263" are ready for sailing; the submarines U "901" and "1014" are unable to dive. Heavy damage to base installations and many casualties.

Hi
On back of photo is "1942 Memel" but research suggests this was 15/04/43 to 15/05/43 Memel
Confusing
Name on the back is "Rolf Erding" who never commanded a boat
Not sure that Collman was instructor
Hellwig and Henning both served in Luftwaffe.
Help on the research was kindly given to me by Fernando Almeida

73. Re: U-41
Thanks Ken.
So you feel that, if they sank "Phyllisa" they would have had even more surviors to "cater" for?
I wonder how that went down at the end of patrol de-briefing!

74. U-41
Hi
U-41 sank the fishing trawler "Cresswell" on 12th Nov 1939 believing it to be a Q ship.
Seven surviors were taken onboard and U-41 proceeded and later sank "ARNE KJODE" Later that evening she transferred the surviors of "Cresswell" to the British trawler Phyllisia.
My question is, why was the Phyllisia NOT attacked by U-41?

77. Re: Snort Boats
Sorry John but I have only got where the Type IXC were fitted.
U534 work started at Bordeaux Aug 1944 and completed at Stettin between Nov 44 to March 1945. The records are in German with many technical terms which are difficult to translate!

Hi
Mystery!
This site and U-Historia do not include 766 as having "snort." Blair actually writes "the non-snort boat 766"
So the foto is,either, not 766, although it has aircraft emblem painted on tower,or records are incorrect
Do you agree?
Can somebody help with an answer?

87. U 277
Hi All
Been reading the crew list of U 277 on the Historisches Marinearchiv.
Would like to know about, I presume, accident which caused death of Wilhelm Kraft at Wamemunde, again presume, during training.
Posthumous awards of DKiG's were awarded to Siegfried Buscher and Werner Eberhardt in May and January 1944, has anybody any knowledge regarding these awards?
Nothing in information on U
