Just after WW2 and as a lad , I recall seeing a movie with a scene with a uboat bottomed and an enemy (Allied) ship waiting on the surface for signs of a kill. The uboat commander asks a man lying in a sick berth "if he believes in the fatherland" When the man confirms that he does, and repeats it after the question is asked again, he is man handled screaming into one of the tubes,
