Hi there Gang, I chanced on a very interesting site posting quite a lot of U-boat commanders WWII original color pictures; this might just well be a good addition for some of the U-boat commanders pages... Here is the site: And here are some of the commanders depicted: Korvettenkapitän Heinrich Bleichrodt Fregattenkapitän Reinhard Suhren Kapitän Zur See Wolfgang Lüth

Yes Scott, They both have the Turmumbau IV, with extended "Wintergarten" platforms with a 37 cm Flak on the lower platform and two twin 220 mm on the upper platform. If I'm not mistaken, this configuration became standard from June 1943 onwards. Cheers Marc

You're most Welcoime Ken! E-bay does have quite a few U-Boot photos to offer. I even chanced on a U-108 photo album earlier this year. From now on, I will post every find I chance on. More often then none, it's pretty much the last chance to see those vanishing testimonies... Cheers Marc

Dear Rainer, Great for me to read your so valuable input again! Thanks for your great detective work. October 1940 would seem to fit climatewise, given the clothewear worn by the KL and his crew on the conning tower. Finally, it all comes down to this wide "Black 9" painted on the conning tower. If it does identify U-9, then you migth have ID'ed Joachim Deecke, whose low-res

Thanks for your input, Thomen. After having checked ubootwaffe.net and this great site, Guenther Loof or Ludwig Mathes could be contenders if we stick to the U-9 hypothesis. Werner von schmidt can be discarded as the published picture on the following uboat.net does exclude any resemblance Cheers Marc
