I think it worth a try...
When I was younger I made PCB-s (for home purposes, mainly for my guitar). I
etched them with iron-chlorid, and used nail-varnish, but the alcoholic-pen worked
fine too. So I think it could work, but you have to print both sides, otherwise the
whole brass sheet could disappear.
And I'm not sure that the printer will like it.
But the photo-film could be done with a laser-printer I think, but never tried.
