Is there a book that tells you how subs work??

Hello everyone
Is there a book that tells you how submarines work. I mean the whole works, not just an introduction to high school students! I used to read a book called \"How things work\" which was a translated german book of two volumes and boy was it good. It had everything in it (basically for a second year undergrad) from Atomic piles to Nuclear subs. Was wondering if any one knew if these books are still in publication or if there are anything of a similar nature. Thanks in advance
