The U505 at Chicago's MSI has the Boat in pristine condidtion.....luckily it is inside, underground for last 11 of 71 yrs.
There is a Wind deflector at the top ridge of the conning tower; Did that ridge have a "gap" between it and the superstructure, where the air blew over the men's heads?
Or did the "slope" of the Lip of the Deflector do the job?
(seems that if there were NO gap, the wind & air would pile up under the Lip with no-way-out)
