Hi: My father Calbert Byron Selmser was a L/T Engineering Officer aboard USS Token from 1942 until 1947. He was, until his death, a close friend of L/t Commander William Hunt. Hunt was the commanding Officer for the period including escort duty Espiritu santo to guadalcanal,Florida Island,Voyage to Sydney Australia for serious repairs to Tokens props and shafts. Cal went on to escort fleet ships throughout the solomon Islands,Manus in the Admiralty group,Ulithi Gulf,Guam,Saipan,Tinian. USS Token was involved in the night battle of Suregao Straight and the battle of Lehyte Gulf. USS Token was in the battle of Okinawa and was the 2nd ship to enter Tokyo Bay to initiate minesweeping operations prior to the Surrender of Japan.
William Hunt is retired from the US navy and lives in Tuczon Arizona. He has all the records and history of his adventures aboard USS Token
Hope this helps Dave
