Hi Wdragon,
the escape was not controlled from germany.
The way of the informations was almost a one way.
The prisoners create the plan and try to send messages
to germany.
But the english censor can "black" parts of the writing,
so is the message uncomplete.
Answers from germany take many time, and the censor
is watching.
Prisoners send a time for the "taxi", and the german
admirality send ok.
Two submarines are a security. First priority is U-38 (valentiner),
sunk the boat take U-27 the mission.
Both boats meet at 13.Aug.1915 in Liverpool-Bay.
U-38 take the mission and U-27 (wegener) continued this
patrol. Six days later sunk U-27 from Q-Ship BARALONG.
The return of POW's from Britain is a publicity; with
3 man return or 6 or 10.
The FdU (Fuehrer der Uboote=Leader of the submarines)
Fregattenkaptitaen BAUER is with enthusiasm for this mission.
But a rock was against the success.
kindly regards
Michael
