Does anyone know of the ELIZABETHVILLE's sinking in the Bay of Biscay 6th September 1917? The ship was sailing from Matadi, Belgian Congo, to Falmouth England, and then Hull.
My (English) grandmother was a passenger, and was rescued with the other passengers and crew before the ship sank. She was transferred to another ship and interned somewhere. I am trying to find out where she was interned. Does anyone have any ideas? I have been looking for information for 10 years and would like to solve the mystery.
My grandmother was 22years old when she was interned. She returned to England after the war but would never speak of her internment.
