<HTML>Dear Lawrence
There is a lot of articles and books.
See
1. The New Zealand Herald, Monday, August 13, 2001
[www.nzherald.co.nz]
08.08.2001 KATHERINE HOBY digs into the history of Devonport's Fort Takapuna, built in the 19th century to repel Russian invaders and now part of a public reserve.
2. Devonport [www.devonport.co.nz]
3. Russophobia in New Zealand: 1838-1908 by Glynn Barratt
As the title suggests this book is about the many Russian Scares that occured though New Zealand's history. It is excellent as it gives a good account of the reasons behind the construction of the early forts. It also covers all of NZ.
