Hello Pete,
I don't know if they are alive or deceased.
But even if they were still alive, remember those Cdr’s would be respectively 97 and 98 years old !
I know by experience that contacts and/of interviews with such elderly persons are not-done, even if they are still kicking. Because they already told they live at sea thousands of times, what has shaped their story; their memories became vague with time and they own version of events of 70 years ago became … the (their) reality.
