hello all,
this story made me remember one told to me in 1986,
by aleck, from scotland. he has gone to the great fishing grounds
in the sky now. (sorry for getting misty eyed then!)
i knew he worked on fishing trawlers during world war 2.
i asked one day did you ever see any u-boats. his reply-
it was towards the end of the war, we were working out of hull, grimsby
or plymouth at the time. early one morning a u-boat surfaced right next to us,
scared seven bells out of us. they boarded us took some fish and other food
and my bottle of whiskey!! i don`t think he ever forgave them!
i have no reason to doubt him.
cheers, vin.
