<HTML>Review of sinkings now credits H.M.S\'s. Loch Insh and Goodall for sinking U-297.
Unfortunately the Sundeland crew captained by Hatton were killed in March 1945 when their Sundeland flew into high ground close to Killybegs when out bound from Castle Archdale.
A memorial was errected to remember the crew , Flt.Hatton was an Australian his crew rest in Irvinstown Church of Ireland cemetery close to that of Fl.lt. Nesbitt who attacked and damaged U-921 off Norway.
Squadron O.R.B\'s. for 201/423 squadrons hold quite a few accounts of attacks on such contacts. (end of 1944-May \'45).
