Visit to U-505
Date: March 30, 2001 12:04AM

<HTML>I just returned from the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry
....mostly to see the U-505.

Alas..there was a 1 hour wait.....Yuck!! I snuck in the \"exit\" and was able to go back into the front of the boat, but didn\'t get far as there was a guide person there. She didn\'t give me too hard a time so I just stood there and looked at the forward torpedo room, and the crew bunks. I had forgotten there was a LOT of teak wood in this boat. It is the original and looks to be in great shape.

Does anyone know if there is a U-505 Association of some sort to donate to and get maybe a newsletter. On the 4th of June each year, there is a re-union of all remaining members here at the boat. I\'m hoping to be a part of this on the boat if its possible by joining some association.

I\'d also REALLY LOVE TO HEAR THOSE DIESELS running....to hear what it was really like for those guys in there.

Thanks in advance for any info.
