Why did Brandi win so much?

No offence to Albrecht Brandi\'but why did he win anything above the Knights Cross.
Apart from sinking about 5 ships including the minelayer HMS Welshman\'his career appears to have consisted of unconfirmed sinkings.

Perhaps the KC would have been the most apt award\'but to get the 3 grades above that seems extremely strange for so little accomplishment.

once again no offence to Brandi.
