I was wondering if you would consider the formal declaration of war by Brazil following the sinking of 5 Brazilian ships by U-507 in 1942 as an example of neutral sinkings causing a declaration of war. It could be argued that Brazil\'s allowance of U.S usage of airfields for anti submarine patrols was already an act of war. U507 declared its sinkings by radio so I presume that she showed pennants when she returned to port. I also have read that Mexico also formally declared war following the sinkings of some of her ships.
