It is hard to verify stories such as this. However it was told to me by my Granfather (who was a fisherman in Ireland) that some of his friends did indeed give food and aid to U Boat men. There was also a story told to him that a U Boat commander came ashore to pick up one of his injured men and stopped by a local pub with one of the fisherman for a brew.
However this may sound it can only be confirmed by ole timmers such as him. Im sure if this did happen in Florida it was done so in secret and would not be recorded as there would be a price to pay for leaving the boat. </HTML>
