<HTML>Many of you will know that I have two U.Boat vets right here in a small fishing village called St Helens on Tasmania.Neither knows of each other, despite the fact that our little town has only 1000 inhabitants!
I have just been given access to one fellows photo album, and he has kindly allowed me to reproduce these original b&w photos.(20 in total)
As soon as I am able to sort them out and make sense of them all, I intend to allow everyone free access to them, but I will have to work out how to put them in a format that means that I dont have to down load them to everyone individualy.
Briefly, the photos show Hans( the fellow in question) at Training academy, some photos showing him with his class (with Kretchmer I think).
Other photos show him onboard the Prinz Eugen, with a group of Cossack dancers(vaslos Army) and other ones showing the Eugen at sea.
There is also photos showing a dedication service commemorating the death of the crew of the Eugen who were killed during allied bombing of the ship whilst in dock.
There is also three brilliant photos of Donetiz, including one in his official motor launch.
Finally there is a shot of the Bismark, only hours before she left her berth in Norway for the Atlantic. This is very possibly the very last photo ever taken of her.
Please keep an eye on the forum, as I will post when I have formatted the photos.
I will also photo Hans\'s Kriegsmarine training manuals, that he kept, along with other bits and bobs..
