<HTML>Hi J.J

Are you sure about U 441..????

U-373 was sighted in a moonlight sky on the 8th June 1944
and was then under a depth-charge attack from a Liberator aircraft
of 224 Sqn, piloted by F/O K O Moore off Brest. About 24 minutes
earlier Moore had sunk U 629. On his return to base he was award
an immeddiate DSO.
Of U 373\'s crew, 4 men were lost and the commander and 46 other
men were rescued.
I\'m not sure about U 441\'s fate.? As it is stated in Wynn\'s book that
U 441 was sighted on the surface in the early morning of the 7th June
1944 by a Liberator aircraft of 53 Sqn flown by F/Lt J W Carmichael
west of Ushant. In the face of heavy gun fire, six D/C were dropped
which straddled the U-boat and lifted her bow out of the water & sank.
No survivors were found from U 441, 53 crew dead.
