<HTML>Mike, Cap\'n Duffy et al,
Just to chuck my six penneth worth in.
All UK registered vessels and aircraft are British Sovreign Territory. That is to say, if Johnny Foreigner attends a cake and a**e party thrown by the officers of a British Warship in the US and decides he likes it so much he can ask for asylum...
Same on UK Merchant Ships too. Just getting aboard whilst the ship is in a foreign port means that the boarder is - technically - on UK soil and is therefore at liberty to ask for asylum.
I think it applies to aircraft too. certainly does to embassies.
As to war graves. Hmm, the Government concerned can request through diplomatic channels for tjhe site of one of their flag vessels to be declared a war grave. Useful if they wish to respect the honour of those who died -
- and to ensure whatever secrets they may hold remain that way. At least until the Navy come along and have a dedication ceremony...and stuff.
Aye,
