<HTML>Dear pat,
During the nigth, red lamps are working on board to accustumed crew and officers on watch to the dark. So, at night, when they get ready to the surface, they put there goggles, with red glaces, to be ready to see all around them, on the water level, at the very emerge time. The danger is everywhere when a sub comes to water level because she don\'t hear nothing. Because of the noise of propullers when she rush to the surface.
To day, it\'s the same. Look at \"red october\". The same goggles in the same sequences.(During the nigth, of course.)
Sincerly your\'s</HTML>
