Hi Enrique

HMS SERAPH was used in several clandestine operations and her commander could be briefed before leaving port about not making any remarks about the nature of the mission in the patrol report. Furthermore a special canister was designed just for the purpose of transporting the corpse for Operation Mincemeat.

U-616 was already at sea when the body was discovered off Huelva, ready to enter the Mediterranean on 1 May but then waited with passing the Straits of Gibraltar until New Moon on 4 May. The U-boat could only have been rerouted to Huelva if informed by wireless and this would be mentioned in the BdU KTB, but there it is only written that there had been anxiety for U-616 because nothing had been heard from this U-boat until it had passed the Straits of Gibraltar.

I wrote you a personal message with my e-mail address.

Best regards
Rainer
