u boat lighter

dear sirs in the early 80s while i was working as a apprentice plant fitter i was working on a machine and when removing 1 of the belly plates a shiney object fell on me and after cleaning it off it was a lighter with a uboat insignia and name on it then when i was at home my grandmother visited me 1 weekend and told me stories of when during the war the german u boats coming in to kinsale and doing shopping and trading with the people i then said to her about the lighter i found and to the best of my knowledge it bore the number u772 is this a possibility
