Absolute minimum crew for a XID2 Uboat

Hi, I was wanting to know what the minimum crew would be for a IXD2 Uboat like the U 196. I know 65 crew were reported lost with the U196 but I am wondering what would the absolute minimum crew needed to operate the boat. 40 perhaps??
