This boat sailed on 15.04.42 and operated off the North American Eastern seaboard, mentioned in H.H. Hickam jr book Torpedo Junction [page225] he describes quite an in depth attack by the American destroyer USS Broome on a U-boat [possibly U106] off Cape Fear on 02.05.42. While K. Wynn in his book U-boat Operations [page87] he also mentions USS Broome's attack as [probably] on U106. However on checking several sites I not seen any mention in U106 records of this attack. I have found that between May 2nd and 3rd U106 was in Grid CB93-CB83, with U558 in CB91-CB83, U566 in CB71 and U654 in CB49-CB83. Was the attack by Broome on one of these boats? and not U106. John
