Note minor discrepancy between crew numbers in this article and U581 page in Uboat.net. Article quotes 46 total comprising 41 taken prisoner, 4 killed and 1 captain got away. Uboat.net quotes 41 survivors plus 4 killed making 45. The escape of the captain is mentioned but you would assume he was included in the survivors figure.
