<HTML>Thanks for the reply. I can imagine the space crunch on the boats. But the U-Boats (Type VIIB,C I think) were pretty large subs for its day, displacing > 1000 tons of water. I think the Das Boot sub was of this type. I know that Erich Topp was commanding one of these. I mean nothing compared to the Oscar class russian subs of today but they were monster subs in their own right. But nonetheless i think the fact of not taking any survivors from sunken ships is covered subtly in the film when the KaLeu asks the engines to be reversed. But i was just wondering if there was an order from flotilla HQ
