Not a remake but a movie that starts the story a bit earlier, at training, perhaps even pre-war. Say the first half of the movie depicts education and training (everyone is happy and optimistic) and the second half tells the story about the first tour (and reality strikes). “Das erste Boot” or something smiling smiley
