Movies and Films
This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

And that brings up an important point. How important is accuracy in a "great world war II movie"?
To the obsessive-compulsive anal-retentive submarine history nuts that infest this forum, probably pretty important. I proudly proclaim my membership in this august group.
But to the general public, which is the primary audience, how important is it?
Well, I conducted a rigorous disciplined academic survey on this matter. -- I asked my wife.
When I pointed out the inaccuracies in the movie U-571, my wife, being much smarter than I am, said, “who cares? It is a movie. Who watches a Hollywood movie for accuracy? You watch a movie to be entertained.â€
“But Dear.†My lower lip quivering, “The S-33 was a pacific boat!â€
“There there.†She cooed, patting my arm. “I know, but it is just a movie, let it go.â€
<sitting in my corner, arms crossed, pouting and muttering under my breath “Type XIVs don’t have torpedo tubes.â€>
Wife shakes her head ruefully.
So what makes a movie a great World War II movie?
Accuracy?
Enjoyment?
Excitement/Drama?
Gratuitous nudity and sex? (OK I added that one in. I’m just a guy!)
Revenue?
Whether it has John Wayne in it?
