Russian sub shapes,why so funky?

Hello there again people,
Recently I was scanning a site called "Russian Subs" and noticed quite a startling difference in shapes from theirs as compared to the American subs. Some looked downright weird! And they could not have been that hydro-dynamic. Why then the strange shapes? Don't they realize a teardrop shape is the way to go?
