Hi,

I have viewed through the book "Der Bau von Unterseebooten" by Hans Techel, which I believe describes the level of submarine technology in the WWI and mid-war period. I have not found any mention about welding the hulls.

Also, looking on the history of arc welding, I would say, that WWI U-Boat hulls were riveted.
