Hello Maurice,

As far as from my sources, the GANDI (ex- KÖNIGSTEIN – ex- ARAWA, Newcastle 1907 – 9.626 n.t.), part of convoy ON 54, (from Liverpool to St. John-Canada) was torpedoed by U-135 (Kpt.Lt. Praetorius) on 22.01.1942, on Pos appr. 45°N-41°W (450 nauticals Est of Cape Race).
On a total of 79 crew (62 Belgians + ? + 10 gunmen/DEMS) : 30 disappeared by ship sinking; 4 were rescued by the JOAO CORTE REAL and 10 by the USS BERNADOU (Lt. Cdr. R.E. Braddy) on 05.02.1942.
Rgds.
Freddy.
