type IX better than VII???

i´ve just read \"vom original zum modell Typ IXc\", and i´m very impressed by type IX.
most people only think of VIIc´s while remembering german u-boats, but it were the IX´s that had the most victories.

so my question:
is there anyone out there to tell me - is it really so much harder to trim and stear a IX?
of course: more deplacement, more tanks and more, complicated machines to handle...but was it really as hard and as dangerous to be on a IX?

next wuestion: is there a special IX-related site (photos, plans, schematics and of course STORIES??)

my grandpa´s dad has be rescued from poland by a IX ´45. so i´d like to get more information.
