So, yes, the IX must have been a better ship, even if she was harder to handle. Although I suspect that with the right training (also a big issue, later in the war, having its own impact on U-Boat effectivity. Just imagine Prien, Kretschmer and the likes at the rudder of a XXI. Brrrr.) the U-Boat men would have experienced her as \'different\' rather than \'more difficult\'.</HTML>
