<HTML>Laboe is about a twenty DM cab ride from the Kiel Hauptbahnhof. Bus is cheaper, but much slower. You can also catch a boat ride from Hbf vicinity to Laboe for a more picturesque trip.
Moeltenort is supposedly within walking distance from Laboe (3 or 4 km), but I took a cab there, too.
Don\'t forget the Schiffarts Museum in Bremerhaven---very nice naval museum near the Wilhelm Bauer.
Also, I\'d recommend going up the tower of the Marine Ehrenmal in Laboe, underground (below the square) into the memorial room, and also visit the musem at the far side of the plaza. A prop from Prinz Eugen is also on display outside the memorial.
If you\'re up to it, you might want to look for Doenitz\'s grave in the Hamburg vicinity. And Wolfgang Lueth (KC w/OL, S, D) is buried up north in the general region of Kiel. You\'ll need better directions for these graves, as I never got around to seeing them myself....
(I read in the paper while I was there that most if not all old remnants of the U-boat bunkers in the general area have been demolished now.)</HTML>
